Summer Library closure and move

Library closure 15th July - 28th August

On 15th July the Taunton Centre Library will close due to building works. It will re-open in the Sammy Ofer Centre on 28th August.

    Library Enquiry/collection point will be located in room CG03.
    Finance Zone PCs will be located in A125
    IT Training room will be located in Laing House 102
    Alumni can use Room B101 on the main campus.

Services over the Summer

Enquiry Desk

Enquiries can continue to be made in person in CG03 and by phone and email:

The Library Enquiry Desk relocates to CG03, from 17/7 to 27/8 inclusive. 

  • Mon - Fri 09:00 – 19:00 
  • Sat - Sun  11:00 – 17:00 (from 19/8 onwards)

IT support will be offered from CG04:

  • Mon – Fri: 09:00 – 16:30 
  • Emergencies: 08:00 – 20:00

The Library will reopen in the Sammy Ofer Centre on Mon 28th Aug.

Study space

240 study spaces will be available across campus in 40 seminar rooms. All are available from 1/8 unless they are booked to support teaching activities.

    A-Wing,  Ground and 1st floor
    Ratcliffe Ground floor*
    E-Wing Ground floor
    Plowden 1st floor
    House 40*

*Note: Seminar rooms in House 40 and Ratcliffe ground floor may be booked out and may be subject to noise impact.

Book collections

Book borrowing, book returns and collecting your reservations

A book fetching service will operate at 11:00 and 15:00 hrs Monday - Friday and on weekends from 19/8.**

Search our Library Catalogue  then email any requests by 11:00 or before 15:00 hrs to 

Collect your requested items and any other reservations in CG03

A drop box for the return of books will be available at Plowden Reception 

**Note: there will be no book fetching service 31st July to 6th Aug incl. when the Library collections move to the Sammy Ofer Centre.

Loan periods

The extended summer loans period runs from Mon 17th July – Mon 28th August (inclusive). Books with a due date falling within this period will be due back after 28th August.

Printing top ups

Students can top up their print credits (card or cash) during opening hours in CG03.

Finance Zone PCs

6 Finance PCs (Bloomberg Terminals) will be relocated to A125 for the duration of the Library closure. You will need you swipe card to access the room.


Access to e-journals and databases are unaffected.

Document Delivery/Inter-library loans

These will continue as normal. 

Collect your inter-library loans from CG03.

Research assistance and training support will continue for the majority of the closed period but please bear with us during the transition and library move week beginning 31/7

Using other libraries 

From 15th July – 28 August the University of Westminster have kindly offered to provide study space access to LBS students (LBS ID required) at their Marylebone Campus Library.

As part of the University of London we are covered by  the University of London Libraries Access Agreement

However individual libraries may require applicants to demonstrate their need to consult material held in that library. Please check with the London University Library you intend to visit.

For LBS PhDs we participate in the Sconul Access Scheme Band A. See the SCONUL website for information on the Libraries that you may visit (and borrow from) and how to apply.
